ISLAMABAD: perpetrating genocide against the Palestinian people as the carnage in Gaza raged on.
FM Jilani calls Israel for ‘committing genocide’: He explained the current state of affairs as the result of “seven decades of illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories” while speaking at a press conference in Islamabad.
Countless women and children were killed as a result of Israel’s aggression and aerial bombardment over Gaza, according to Jillani, who also deemed it “unacceptable” to compare the Palestinians’ fight for self-determination with Israel’s aggressiveness.
He adamantly insisted that Pakistan’s position towards Israel had not changed. He stated that unless the Palestinians exercise their right to self-determination as guaranteed by resolutions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the UN Security Council, it would continue to pursue the same stance that it had previously adopted.
The acting minister reiterated that Pakistan deplores the siege of Gaza as Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people continues unabated as they are left without access to food, water, and electricity. According to him, the circumstance has caused a serious human disaster.
Jillani argued that Israel should abide by international law, UNSC decisions, and OIC directives regarding the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and an independent state.
He announced that an urgent meeting of the OIC executive committee would convene on October 18 in Jeddah to discuss the current situation in Palestine.
“International Push for a Two-State Solution and Humanitarian Aid in OIC Meeting”
The two-state solution endorsed by the international community calls for an independent state of Palestine with pre-1967 boundaries and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. FM Jilani emphasised this further.
Jillani stated that his office was in touch with the Muslim world and the international community for humanitarian relief for the beleaguered Palestinians. “Unfortunately, there is a complete siege of Gaza.”
During the upcoming OIC executive committee meeting, he said they would underline this element as they discuss the coordinated reaction of OIC member countries on how to put an end to the violence committed by Israel and provide prompt humanitarian relief to Palestinians.
He stated that Pakistan has prepared to offer humanitarian aid and has already spoken with the Egyptian government. Furthermore, he mentioned that the OIC committee meeting would present a strong argument for the swift settlement of the issue.
PM Kakar’s trip to China
Jillani stated that Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar would meet with Chinese officials, international leaders, and top Chinese business leaders during his planned trip to China on October 17–18 to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for international collaboration.
According to Jillani, a number of MOUs regarding agriculture, health, industrial, green energy, and space technology cooperation will be inked during the next visit. The interim premier will negotiate joint ventures with Chinese businesses.
The visit, according to the foreign minister, “would help strengthen bilateral ties and enhance the ongoing strong bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China as ‘Iron Brothers’.”
The chance to assess the full range of collaboration and Pak-China strategic cooperation will also be provided by the visit. The Belt & Road Initiative and CPEC both turn 10 during this visit, he continued.
The caretaker prime minister would also travel to the Xinjiang province of China, which borders Pakistan and eight other nations in the region, the foreign minister added.
He described CPEC as a paradigm of outstanding economic cooperation and a story of economic success for both parties, despite external aspects posing certain security risks.
Both nations worked together to combat terrorism, and they both expressed gratitude for the ongoing bilateral co-operation. He continued, saying that the second phase of CPEC, which deals with industrial, technological, and agricultural cooperation, has begun after they finished the first phase.
In response to a question, Jilani recommended against listening to CPEC propaganda and stated that the railroads project was a part of continuing talks between the two parties and was at an advanced stage. He hoped that shortly an agreement in this matter would be reached.
“Illegal” immigrants
He said that all unlawful aliens living in Pakistan without proper documentation were subject to the policy’s expulsion rather than just Afghans.
Further, He said the interior ministry was looking into the seizure of false national passports from Afghans in answer to a question.
He remarked that Pakistan has always helped Afghanistan during trying times and added that the two nations continue to work together in the economic and trade sectors.
He characterised his recent meeting with the acting foreign minister of Afghanistan in Azerbaijan as quite fruitful.
According to Jilani, Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have very close ties and share positions. When a matter is significant, they always consult one another. According to him, both closely allied nations’ economies and militaries cooperate closely, and they also have similar views on various strategic matters.
The foreign minister criticized the Indian government for not allowing Pakistani spectators and journalists to travel to India to attend ICC World Cup games.
He argued that it was exceedingly deplorable and shown shortsightedness. “India has set a very wrong precedent and violated international norms and the ICC charter.”
According to the foreign minister, member nations reiterated their commitment for shared prosperity and connectivity during a recent ECO conference in Azerbaijan.
He said that a road and train network connects Pakistan and Iran. Another communication network connecting Pakistan with the Central Asian Republics and Russia would be the land corridor between Iran and Azerbaijan, he continued.
He mentioned how appreciative the Azerbaijani people were of Pakistan’s assistance.
