Inzamam-ul-Haq named Pakistan’s chief selector: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday that they have officially appointed Inzamam as the head selector for the men’s team. This comes after his recent nomination to the Cricket Technical Committee (CTC).
Inzamam-ul-Haq replaced Haroon Rashid, who departed from his position last month. The last captain served in that capacity from 2016 until 2019.
While he was in office, Sarfaraz Ahmed led his chosen side to the 2017 Champions Trophy victory. However, at the 2019 World Cup, their lower net run rate prevented them from reaching the semifinals.
During Inzamam’s final term, Mickey Arthur, the director of the Pakistan team, served as the nation’s head coach.
The appointment of Inzamam-ul-Haq occurre during a crucial period as his committee will be taske with selecting teams for both the upcoming Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup later this year.
He will also make the announcement regarding the squad that will travel to Sri Lanka for the series against Afghanistan, set to begin on August 22.
Zaka Ashraf, the head of the PCB Management Committee, was given the former captain’s name by the PCB Cricket Technical Committee (CTC), which was led by Misbah-ul-Haq. Mohammad Hafeez, a former captain, is also a member of the CTC.
The committee’s responsibility involves offering recommendations on cricket-related matters, encompassing plans for umpire, referee, and curator development, the overarching domestic structure, scheduling, playing conditions, appointments of national selection committees, national team coaches, central and domestic contracts, and strategies for these aspects.
They also possess the authority to invite additional experts in the field of cricket, and they are responsible for providing regular reports to the chairman of the PCB Management Committee.
