The Gandhara Citizen Club in F-9 Park will host the 9th Islamabad Literature Festival (ILF), a three-day literary extravaganza, from November 3 to 5.
Islamabad Literature Festival: This much awaited event, organised by Oxford University Press (OUP), will take place against the bright backdrop of the expansive park grounds.
With “People, Planet, Possibilities” as the subject, ILF promises a wide range of captivating talks, book launches, film screenings, exhibitions, and keynote addresses.
The public is welcome to attend the first day on November 3, which will include talks from OUP’s managing director Arshad Saeed Husain, British high commissioner Jane Marriott, and Getz Pharma Pvt. Ltd.’s managing director Khalid Mahmood.
Prominent Urdu poet Iftikhar Arif and British author and historian Victoria Schofield will both give keynote addresses on the day. The proceedings will be wrapped up with a riveting literary performance.
Following its history of honouring Urdu poetry, the event’s schedule included two special events: on the second evening, Ustad Hamid Ali Khan will perform a Ghazal Night, and on the third evening, Iftikhar Arif will preside over a big Mushaira.

Over the course of three days, eminent specialists including Nasira Zuberi, Dr. Ishrat Husain, and Dr. Maleeha Lodhi will host thought-provoking and literary debates that cover a wide range of fascinating themes.
These talks will cover a wide range of topics, including foreign policy, contemporary literature, changing business dynamics, and the expanding role of artificial intelligence.
There will also be an introduction to OxfordAQA, the top examination board in the UK that provides a well-known worldwide alternative for exams in Pakistan.
OUP’s Managing Director, Arshad Saeed Husain, expressed his excitement about the expanding acceptance of literature festivals and emphasised how the ILF and KLF have become into indispensable tools for enhancing socially conscious and culturally diverse viewpoints.
Additionally, “Funding from the British Council, Getz Pharma Pakistan, Kaizen Paint Pvt Ltd, CDA, and other partners enables the 9th Edition of ILF.”
However, ILF attracts people from all walks of life in and around Islamabad, and it has a unique place in the hearts of literature lovers. Furthermore, It honours literary accomplishments and recognises the important contribution that intellectual discourse has made to the development of human civilization.
