Imaan Mazari, a rights activist, was detained by Islamabad Police outside the Adiala Jail after she was freed on bail.

Police re-arrest Imaan Mazari: In another occurrence that was reported to the Bara Kahu police station, the authorities detained Mazari. After she was released from Adiala Jail, a sizable police detachment showed up outside and arrested her.

There are rumours that Mazari won’t be freed without holding a news conference.

Imaan Mazari, a human rights activist, and Ali Wazir, the leader of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement, were both given post-arrest release earlier today by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in a sedition case.

After hearing the argument, ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain granted Imaan and Wazir’s post-arrest bail in exchange for surety bonds of Rs30,000 apiece. In one instance, they were charged with speaking outspokenly at a rally against government institutions.

Two first information reports (FIR) were filed on August 19 at the Tarnol police station and the Counter-Terrorism Department police station against Imaan and Wazir. Both were detained on suspicion of sedition, interfering with the performance of government functions, and causing damage to public property.

Earlier this week, Imaan Mazari and Ali Wazir were handed over to the police for a 3-day physical remand. This action was taken after the court postponed the bail request.

Iman Mazari, the daughter of a former federal minister, and former MNA Ali Wazir appeared in court. This followed the filing of a terrorism-related charge against them.

However, The prosecutor asked for a 10-day physical detention order for the suspect. The court, however, denied the request and gave the police three days of jail instead.
