The Palestinian health ministry and official media reported on Thursday that an Israeli soldier had murdered a Palestinian youngster during a midnight raid in the occupied West Bank.

Israel troops kill Palestinian teen: The incident took place in the northern West Bank town of Qalqilya, which has seen an increase in violence since early last year.

Conflict erupted as the occupation forces overran the Naqar suburb west of Qalqilya, according to the official Wafa news agency.

“The occupation forces fired live and rubber bullets, stun grenades and tear gas at the residents and their homes.”

The Israeli army promised to provide a statement “as soon as possible”.

The adolescent, named Fares Abu Samrah by the Palestinian health ministry, was 14 years old when he passed away from head wounds.

A Palestinian was murdered on Wednesday in Nablus, the largest northern city in the Occupied West Bank, during what the army termed as “counter-terrorism activity” in the area.

In a gunfight in Nablus on Tuesday, Israeli forces murdered three Palestinians.

Since the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel has held the West Bank under occupation.

According to an AFP count collated from official sources on both sides, violence has claimed the lives of at least 203 Palestinians, 27 Israelis, one Ukrainian, and one Italian so far this year.

Israel, with the exception of east Jerusalem, which it has annexed, is home to over three million Palestinians and about 490,000 Israelis who reside in settlements deemed illegal by international law in the occupied West Bank.
