Israeli forces engaged in gunfire with assailants in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, which resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, according to military and medical officials.

Israeli troops kill Palestinians in clash: The IDF reported that the two Palestinians were in the vehicle that fired shots at an Israeli vehicle near the town of Tulkarm. After a chase, soldiers shot both of them in a gunfight and found an assault rifle in their car, according to the report.

According to the Islamic Jihad and Hamas groups, their members were currently attacking soldiers. None of the armed organisations quickly claimed ownership of the two slain Palestinians, who were 23 and 27 years old.

As U.S.-sponsored peace efforts have been at a standstill for almost ten years, violence has increased in the West Bank, one of the areas where Palestinians desire statehood.
