LAHORE: Veteran politician Jahangir Khan Tareen, formerly Imran Khan’s closest advisor, is poised to launch his new political party, largely made up of former members of the ruling party, next week.

According to insiders, “Jahangir Tareen has tasked his legal team to complete necessary steps for the registration of party,” adding that the senior politician will probably launch new party in the following 4, 5 days.

Following the events of May 9, Jahangir Tareen, who has been actively forming his new party, also met with Abdul Aleem Khan, a former senior minister of Punjab, and other political heavyweights to plan their future course of action.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, the former prime minister of the AJK, declared on Saturday that he would support Jehangir Tareen and work with him.

Tareen is currently consulting with his political allies in preparation for the launch of his new political party later this month.

It is important to note that Tareen served as the PTI’s secretary general before his expulsion from politics in 2017 as a result of the Supreme Court disqualifying him for being “dishonest” in response to a case brought by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi.
