The Sialkot police announced on Monday that they have found Imran Riaz Khan, an anchor who had been missing for more than four months, safe and with his family.
Imran Riaz Khan Returns Home: In a post on X, the anchor person’s attorney Ali Ashfaq also affirmed his recovery. “I have brought back my prince with a particular favour, grace, and mercy from God.
According to Ashfaq, “It took a long time due to the mountain of difficulties, the last limit of understanding of the matter, a weak judiciary, and the current helpless public constitution.”
Riaz was among those detained following the violent riots that occurred in the country after the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
The father of the anchorperson filed a first information report (FIR) with the Civil Lines police accusing unnamed individuals and police officers of abducting Imran Riaz.
The FIR accused “unidentified persons” and police officers of allegedly abducting the anchorperson under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code (kidnapping or abduction with intent to secretly and unlawfully confine someone).
After his detention, the anchor was last seen being escorted to the Cantt police station before being transferred to the Sialkot prison.
On September 21, when the IGP informed the court that the provincial intelligence chief was out of the city, Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Muhammad Ameer Bhatti gave the IGP one final chance to find Riaz.
The police chief requested an additional week of time and announced that a joint working group will meet again on Friday.
