The anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday denied former Punjab health minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s request for release.
ATC dismisses Yasmin Rashid’s bail: The hearing was presided over by Judge Arshad Javed of the ATC. Yasmin is currently in police custody and is subject to a physical remand in connection with the Shadman police station case, the prosecution told the court during the hearing. He also mentioned that the case has been updated with fresh charges.
The former minister’s bail request was subsequently denied, and the ATC ultimately rejected it.
Contrarily, the Lahore High Court (LHC) dismissed a petition that sought to stop the detention of social media activist Sanam Javed in connection with secret cases.
The LHC requested information regarding the charges brought against Sanam, which is anticipated to be submitted on October 19.
Sanam had previously been detained by the police, according to the petitioner’s attorney, but she was never shown in court. A writ petition was then submitted to find her location.
She had been detained in accordance with the 3MPO requirements, it was later discovered. Sanam was later detained in relation to another case.
The petitioner expressed concern about the frequent arrests of her client. She requested guarantees that this would not happen again.
After hearing the case, the LHC postponed the hearing to October 19. The court also requested the public prosecutor to provide a report on the matter.
