LAHORE: As subsidized flour has disappeared from the marketplace, Lahore’s flour crisis gets worse.

According to information, the product has remained unavailable in the majority of stores around the province.  The flour crisis gets worse in Lahore.

After a price hike of Rs 150, the 15 kg flour bag is currently being offered for Rs 2,050.

So far, in just two weeks, the cost of a 15 kg flour bag has increased by Rs300. The prices, however, are still the same on the open market.

Last week, the Punjab chief secretary was already aware of the increase in the price of flour.

IN RAWALPINDI AND ISLAMABAD, THE COST OF FLOUR INCREASES

In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, flour prices increased earlier for the third time in two days.

According to flour mills, a 15-kilogram bag of flour used to cost Rs 1875.

According to the sources, there is poor communication between the food department and flour mills. This is to blame for the increase in flour prices.

USC INCREASES GHEE, FLOUR, AND SUGAR PRICES

Before this, the government-run Utility Store Corporation (USC) increased the price of sugar, flour, ghee, and other food goods despite the Prime Minister’s assistance package.

The price of sugar was raised by Rs. 19 per kg, that of ghee by Rs. 75 per kg, and that of a 20-kg bag of wheat by Rs. 496 by the Utility Stores Corporation (USC).

According to the notification, the new prices will go into effect at Utility Stores all around the nation on January 1, 2023.

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISPdeserving )’s beneficiaries will not be subject to the new pricing, it was underlined.
