The interim administration has appointed Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar as the chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
Muhammad Munir Afsar appointed NADRA chairman: At a meeting led by Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq on Monday in Islamabad, the interim federal cabinet gave its consent. For the role, the interior ministry has suggested three people.
Officials informed the cabinet that they had shortlisted the names of the top three applicants for the coveted position. After careful consideration, the cabinet selected Lt. Gen. Afsar as the new chairman of NADRA.
He will take over as the new head of the database authority after Asad Rehman Gilani. After Tariq Malik’s resignation as the previous chairman in June, Gilani was given more responsibilities.

In the mission of the United Nations, Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar, a recipient of Hilal-i-Imtiaz (military), has extensive experience in technological development and information technology systems.
He also holds an MPhil in administration of public policy and national security. However, In the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department, he wrote a research paper on the public policy reaction to the 2010 floods.
Additionally, Lt. Gen. Afsar earned an MS in GIS and remote sensing. In addition, he received the civil award for his research on photometry-based rapid geospatial data creation.
However, He achieved his MS in National Resource Strategy (C&IT Industry and Supply Chain Management) from the National Defence University in Washington, DC, where he received recognition as a “distinguished graduate.” Furthermore, He is currently a PhD candidate in remote sensing at the National University of Sciences and Technology in Islamabad, and the topic of his research paper is the use of artificial intelligence and remote sensing to identify plant diseases.
