According to reports, a historic mosque in the northern state Uttar Pardesh, India was bulldozed on Sunday to order to “widen the road.”
Former International Water Cooperation head of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Ashok Swain, posted a video of the mosque being bulldozed on his official Twitter account.
Journalist and activist against Islamophobia CJ Werleman also shared the video, saying that the mosque has been demolished by the Hindutva regime under the pretext of widening the road.

The Public Works Department of Prayagraj is responsible for widening Haldia GT Road. The Shahi Masjid received a notice in this regard.
Locals had originally petitioned the High Court to rescue the historic mosque, which then directed the petitioners to the Civil Court.
In August 2022, the High Court made it clear that, in accordance with government reports, the masjid had been built on private property.
