The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) announced on Sunday that it would start a sit-in at Fawara Chowk outside the Karachi Press Club on February 12 in protest of the local body elections in Karachi and Hyderabad.
At a general workers’ meeting in Karachi, Convenor MQM-P Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui announced the sit-in and said they would relocate their Bahadurabad centre to Press Club Chowk the following Sunday.
He instructed the staff to get ready for the sit-in and announced, “We will fight for Karachi’s case starting February 12. “
Pakistan is turning a corner, but no one is in a position to decide, the MQM-P leader claims. He went on to say that it was now or never for the country to fulfil its obligations to its founding fathers and that the economy would triumph over politics.
Furthermore, Siddiqui promised that his party would run in and take the nine seats up for election in Karachi.
Despite their withdrawal from the local body elections, he asserted they still had to fight for their goals.
