The Muharram moon, which will usher in the new Islamic year of 1445 AH, was not visible to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Tuesday.

Muharram moon not sighted: This indicates that Youm-e-Ashura will fall on July 29 (Saturday), while the start of Muharram will be on Thursday, July 20.

Moulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad presided over the meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which took place in the Quetta Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Other officials and Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz were present during the meeting.

On July 17 (Monday), at 11:32 p.m., the moon will be born on the crossing conjunction point, according to an earlier prediction by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The PMD stated in a notification a day earlier that there was a remote possibility of seeing the new moon of Muharram, 1445 AH on the evening of July 18, 2023, i.e. on the 29th of Zilhaj, 1444 AH.

In the meantime, the Saudi Supreme Court declared that the Islamic calendar year will begin in the country on July 19th.

“Tuesday will be the last day of the month of Zilhaj, 1444 Hijri, which corresponds to July 18, 2023, in the Umm Al-Qura calendar. According to the court, Wednesday will be the first day of the month of Muharram, 1445 Hijri, or July 19, 2023.
