The two billionaires first announced their intention to fight in a cage in a series of social media posts on their respective platforms in June (Musk on Twitter, Zuckerberg on Instagram). Before that, UFC champion George St-Pierre and computer scientist Lex Fridman, who is skill in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, had seen Musk working out. Dana White, the president of the UFC, is reportedly serving as their mediator. Talk of the fight comes as Zuckerberg reportedly tries to repair his reputation in an effort to win over Musk haters, even as his new social network, Threads, poses the largest threat yet to Twitter’s supremacy in short-form publishing.

Given Zuckerberg’s statement from last month, it is still unclear whether this genuinely implies the fight will go place. “If it does, sports betting enthusiasts still consider Zuckerberg, who has been spotte putting in a lot of training and even winning MMA matches, as the favorite to prevail.”

Regarding Musk’s remark, we’ve contacted Meta and Twitter. If we hear back, we’ll update.
