NA Speaker accepts 43 additional PTI MNAs’ resignations

NA Speaker accepts resignations: The resignations of 43 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs have been accepted, sources stated on Tuesday, a day after the party declared its decision to reverse the resignations. This is a significant development in the country’s political system.

A few days ago, after approving the 43 resignations, NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf forwarded a summary to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), according to speaker’s office representatives who spoke on the record under the condition of anonymity.

84 members have been denotified, while 124 PTI MNA resignations have so far been accepted.

Speaker Ashraf of the NA accepted the PTI resignations in four steps. Only 11 resignations were initially accepted, followed by 34 in the second stage, 35 in the third, and now 43 in the fourth.

The dissidents who were elected as MNAs on the party’s ticket and afterwards defected make up the only PTI members still present in the national legislature as a result of the most recent clearance of resignations.

Government is counting on deserters, says Fawad Chaudhry

Fawad Chauhdry, a prominent PTI leader, responded to the development by stating that Raja Riaz’s removal as opposition leader was the primary motivation for the PTI’s small-scale return to the assembly because it had “no value.”

Fawad tweeted that Shehbaz Sharif is currently counting on lotas (turncoats) to maintain his administration because he has lost the backing of 172 lawmakers.

He claimed that 40% of the seats are currently empty as a result of the speaker’s efforts to save Raja Riaz.

Elections in the nation will soon be held. General elections are the only way to solve this issue, according to Fawad.

PTI legislators ask ECP not to de-notify

Asad Umar, the secretary general of PTI, declared on Monday that “45 MNAs are withdrawing their resignations.” This was an apparent about-face. He made this statement on Monday.

PTI legislators asked ECP not to de-notify them even if their resignations were accepted. They were afraid of the NA speaker’s move. The legislators sought the ECP for this request.

Authorities forbade PTI legislators from accessing the Parliament House and the home of the NA speaker. PTI legislators protested in front of Ashraf’s house. They then made their way to the ECP.

The resignations

The Imran Khan-led government was deposed in April of last year following a no-confidence vote. The PTI legislators tendered their resignations collectively. This happened after the no-confidence vote that deposed the Imran Khan-led government.

Following Asad Qaiser’s retirement, the PTI alleged that Qasim Suri, a former deputy speaker, received resignations in the speaker’s absence.

Speaker Ashraf halted the resignation process by announcing that the remaining legislators would be called in separately for verification.

Contrary to his statements, he accelerated the procedure. PTI indicated earlier in the month that it would return to the parliament and put the PM to the test with a no-trust motion. The acceleration of the procedure was done after the indication from PTI.
