Lahore: According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, NAB’s dual standards hurt Pakistan and driving Pakistan towards oblivion.
“The NAB’s contradictory standards have harmed Pakistan. The 220 million citizens of the nation must permanently bury the notion that “might is right,” the prime minister declared during a ceremony marking the groundbreaking for Bab-e-Pakistan and the expansion and improvement of Walton Road in Lahore.
He regretted that the project, which was meant to be a destination for local and foreign tourists, had run into trouble in 2008 since its contract had been issued during the administration of the late General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
“The nation’s estimated $1.10 billion was buried beneath its wreckage. The contractor sought to bring granite from Italy for Rs. 900 million but was a fraud and lacked knowledge “Added he.
The prime minister expressed the opinion that using pricey foreign tiles for the construction of the historic monument would be a disgrace for a poor nation like Pakistan, where access to needs like health and education was limited.
“I was told that Rs 900 million worth of white granite was to be brought from Italy for this monument and when I asked why, the individual stated that without this granite, the creation of Pakistan is inconceivable,” the man claimed.
“PM Shehbaz Sharif Criticizes Project Management and Anti-Graft Watchdog”
The PM stated that he would not continue the project with the aforementioned “consultant,” and he added that the contractor was a “fraud” who lacked experience but was handed the job without a competitive bid.
PM Shehbaz Sharif continued, “Billions of the country were wasted with such a display of callousness.”
Such incidents, he claimed, also raised concerns about the effectiveness of the anti-graft watchdog, which “targeted the innocent” but failed to call the parties concerned to court.
“I want that nobody, not even my adversary, visits the NAB’s akhuwat khana. Unarmed individuals were forced up against the wall. But did NAB examine into the individuals involved in corruption in this project, where billions were misappropriated?
When describing the project’s location, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that people had once again gathered at the historic site where millions of Muslims who were migrating from the subcontinent had made heroic sacrifices and worked to establish a separate homeland under the great leadership of Quaid-e-Azam.
The worst form of slaughter, with thousands of children and women enduring the assault, was encountered on their route to the newly established country, he continued.
The prime minister referred to the Walton route when he remarked that it was there that hundreds of Indian migrants sought safety, and the villagers helped them, reviving the Ansar-e-Madina example.
He continued that the exceptional precedent would be remembered forever.
According to PM Shehbaz Sharif, Muslims went to a newly formed nation in order to overthrow the foreign tyrants and to create a civilization where merit, justice, and equality would rule.
Regarding Bab-e-Pakistan, the premier said that Nawaz Sharif lay its cornerstone in 1991 and that when the PML-N came into office in 1997, the project’s construction was accelerated.
He asserted that the younger generations should use it.
