Due to a shoulder injury sustained during the Asia Cup, Pakistan’s speedster Naseem Shah may miss some of his team’s early matches in the Cricket World Cup in India next month.

Naseem doubtful World Cup matches: In a Super Four game against India on Monday in Colombo, the 20-year-old right-arm bowler was unable to complete his 10th over and departed the field.

He travelled to Dubai for scans on Thursday but missed the loss to Sri Lanka.

Expectations are that Haris Rauf, a fellow quick who suffered a side strain against India and also missed the Sri Lanka game, will recover in time for the World Cup, commencing on Oct. 5.

Rauf’s condition was describe as “not bad” by Pakistani captain Babar Azam. He only has a little side strain, and he is recovering in time for the World Cup.

He continued by saying he had no idea how long Naseem would need to heal but was optimistic that at some point he will be able to compete in the World Cup.

The 1992 World Cup champions Pakistan will open their campaign on October 6 in Hyderabad against the Netherlands.
