Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that he would dissolve the National Assembly before August 12 after discussions with the associated parties.
Assembly dissolved before August 12: In an interview with a private news outlet, he stated that the National legislature’s term will finish on August 12, and in the interim, the legislature would dissolve, and the Election Commission would announce a date for the subsequent elections.
He stated that he would make the choice regarding the caretaker prime minister in consultation with the opposition leader in the National Assembly. Additionally, he mentioned that he would first consult with all of the allied parties and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.
Speaking of the performance of his administration, he claimed that over the previous 15 months, prayers from the populace had prevented Pakistan from going into default and had regained its standing and dignity among friendly and fraternal nations.
He added that inexpensive oil was purchased from Russia, and that Pakistan’s government had negotiated a contract with Azerbaijan under which that country would provide one shipment each month at a cost-effective price. Qatar would also be a source of inexpensive gas.
He recalled that after COVID-19, petrol prices dropped to $3, but the PTI chairman neglected to take advantage of the low prices because he was too busy persecuting the opposition and installing dictatorship on the nation.
He emphasised that no instances of corruption came to light while he was in office and noted that this year’s wheat crop was very good and that cotton production would be stronger than in many prior years.
Shehbaz’s Initiatives for Economic Recovery and Development
Shehbaz stated that he established the Special Investment Facilitation Council to promote comprehensive economic recovery, attract foreign investment, ignite an agricultural revolution, provide youth with information technology tools, and exploit mineral resources. Shehbaz added that all federal and provincial governments would work to achieve the council’s objectives.
Speaking of actions taken to help the populace, he said that the federal government raised the salaries of public servants with grade levels below 18 by 35 percent and those with grade levels above 18 by 30 percent, in addition to raising pensions by 17.5 percent. Similar to this, the Punjabi government also increased staff salaries by the same percentage.
In response to a query, he stated that technocrats and politicians had previously assumed caretaker roles. He also stated that the caretaker prime minister should be neutral to prevent anyone from objecting to the outcome of the upcoming elections.
He claimed that the Election Commission was responsible for announcing election dates in accordance with the law and the constitution. In order to concentrate its energies on economic regeneration and advancement, he said, Pakistan required both national integrity and an economic charter.
Shehbaz predicted that the Council of Common Interests will approve the census of the people. According to him, Pakistan’s population was a major problem because it required enormous resources to employ millions of people and start an economic revolution.
