Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s speech at the farewell session on August 9 (tonight), the National Assembly will be dissolve in Islamabad.

Assembly dissolve tomorrow: After addressing the lower chamber of parliament, the prime minister would send a summary to President Dr. Arif Alvi asking him to dissolve Pakistan’s 15th National Assembly.

Three days before the lower house of the parliament’s five-year constitutional term ends, on August 9, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the dissolution of the NA at a speech to a crowd in Kasur on Sunday.

The whole term of the current National Assembly expires on August 12; if it does, elections will be place within 60 days. Nevertheless, the Constitution requires that in the event of the assembly’s dissolution before its term concludes, elections must take place within 90 days.

Initiating the summary to dissolve the lower house on August 9 (tomorrow) will require the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to conduct elections within 90 days.

Before the assembly’s dissolution, an agreement between the government and the opposition was necessary regarding the caretaker regime. This regime would be responsible for bridging the gap until the next general election and the subsequent establishment of a newly elected government.
