Nawaz Sharif did not flee country illegally: Murtaza Solangi

Nawaz Sharif is the leader of a significant political party and did not escape the country illegally, according to interim information minister Murtaza Solangi, according to state-run wire service APP.

Nawaz did not flee country illegally: The minister said in an interview with a private news outlet that the older Sharif’s departure for Pakistan had nothing to do with the caretaker administration.

Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), plans to return on October 21 after spending nearly four years in London on medical leave, during which he was absent from his seven-year prison sentence.

Solangi asserted during the interview that setting a date for the nation’s general elections was neither the mandate or responsibility of the caretaker government.

“The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is a constitutionally independent entity,” declared the interim minister. He added, “I have complete faith and confidence in the capacity and leadership of the ECP.”

“We are in the election phase, and in an election environment, any party and its leadership has the freedom to express their position on any significant issue,” he insisted.

According to Solangi, the interim administration and the electoral watchdog would guarantee that all political parties would have an equal chance to run in the future elections.
The political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has not been prohibited.

In response to a query, he clarified that the previous parliament and its elected government, not the caretaker administration, initiated the privatization process.

Solangi stated, “We must execute the decisions made by the previous parliament and government.” He also emphasised the necessity of institutional transformation.

In response to a different question, the minister asserted that governments globally sponsor public broadcasters because these institutions serve as essential national service providers.

However, he continued, public broadcasters shouldn’t employ such individuals who don’t work in today’s cutting-edge broadcasting infrastructure.

He said that the caretaker government’s mission did not involve making significant changes to the national broadcasters when asked about them.

He stated, in reference to the deadline of November 1 set for the repatriation of illegal immigrants residing in Pakistan, “Those who lecture Pakistan on human rights should check their own record on human rights.”

The temporary minister said that no other nation in the world had taken in as many refugees over the previous forty years as Pakistan.

According to him, nations could not survive if they had open borders, allowed people to enter their country without proper documentation, lived freely, and prepared phoney passports and identification documents.

The minister reaffirmed that anyone living there without authorization must voluntarily leave by October 31.

However, “Such unlawful aliens will be forcibly removed from the nation after October 31. Further, Our goal is to protect our nation and its people, he said.
