The National Electric Electricity Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has granted the federal government’s request to increase the base electricity tariff by Rs7.5 per unit in Islamabad.
NEPRA approves unit hike: The regulatory body approved the significant increase in the base electricity tariff and then referred the case to the federal government for the issue of a notification.
After issuing a notification, the authorities will implement the increase in the power rate on July 1.
The latest increase in power rates will not apply to lifeline customers. The base rate increase won’t impact the protected clients who use 200 units or fewer per month.
For clients using up to 100 units per month, the power cost will increase by Rs3, to Rs16.48 per unit.
The rate will rise by Rs4 to Rs22.95 per unit for use of 101 to 200 units.
Additionally, The rate will rise by Rs5 to Rs27.14 per unit for use of 201 to 300 units.
Lifeline clients will not be affected by the most recent increase in power prices. The basic rate hike won’t affect protected clients who use 200 units or fewer per month.
The cost of power will increase by Rs3 for customers consuming up to 100 units each month, to Rs16.48 per unit.
For the use of 101 to 200 units, the price will increase by Rs4 to Rs22.95 per unit.
However, For the use of 201 to 300 units, the price will increase by Rs5, to Rs27.14 per unit.
Additionally, The lifeline customers consuming 50 units in a month would continue to pay Rs3.95 per unit for power.
Further, For lifeline customers who use 51 to 100 units of power per month, the price per unit remains at Rs 7.74.
However, The cost per unit for protected consumers using 1 to 100 units will be Rs7.74, and for protected consumers using 101 to 200 units in a month, the cost per unit will be Rs10.06.
