During several operations in Rawalpindi, the FIA Cybercrime Circle reportedly detained 9 individuals of using online loan applications for extortion.

According to the official, they conducted raids on Syedpur Road in Rawalpindi and took action by sealing the offices of various online lending apps located in the plaza.

According to the FIA spokeswoman, the authorities gave the accused the responsibility of contacting friends and family members of citizens to demand loan repayment.

Through online loan applications, the suspects use to access the data of the clients. During the raids, the authorities found items such as documents, computers, laptops, and other belongings.

The FIA Cybercrime Circle stated that they are currently conducting investigations into the detained suspects, while simultaneously carrying out raids to apprehend their allies.

A recent incident involved Mahmood Masood, who tragically committed suicide in Rawalpindi shortly after borrowing Rs 13,000 from an online lender.
