The scenario was set for the skipper to lead by example, and Misbah did just that, forming a third-wicket partnership of 173 runs with Hassan Raza, who scored 68 runs off 64 balls. Misbah left the game having hit seven sixes and six fours in his 106 off 93 balls.

Tasawwar Abbas’ cameo, which saw him smash an undefeated 58 off just 21 balls, enabled the home team to add nearly 100 runs to their total in the final seven overs.
