The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a high flood alert for rivers that were anticipating additional water releases from India.
PDMA issues high flood alert for Punjab: The higher catchment areas of the Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab, and Jhelum rivers have been warned against receiving further rainfall, according to a PDMA spokeswoman.
The Ranjeet Sagar dam in Ravi could release more water at any time, according to a representative for India. The PDMA issued a warning that the Bhakra Nangal dam in the Sutlej River could release more water. Additionally, reservoirs in the Chenab and Jhelum rivers could release water.
According to a PDMA official, monsoon rains are expected to lessen in intensity by July 26.
“The water level being surged in rivers in Punjab,” the spokesman added. “Ravi, Jhelum, and Chenab rivers could surge to medium or high flood level,” a spokesman said.
According to a spokeswoman, DG PDMA has ordered the administration to maintain constant alertness to deal with any undesirable circumstances.
A protective dyke in Arifwala in Dhola has been breached due to flooding in the Sutlej River. On hundreds of acres of agricultural area, standing crops and residences were buried by floodwater.
To rescue stranded persons from floodwater, Rescue 1122 has started a relief mission.
Additionally, River water is quickly flowing into Basti Dhola and other nearby communities. Balara Arjun Ka, Balara Lakhoo Ka, Hasoo Hassanka, and other nearby villages could be submerged by floodwater.
However, Dhola Bund had been reinforced multiple times by locals. Further, It was the fourth defensive dyke to be erected there.
