PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has submitted a bail request following his arrest in the Punjab Assembly’s case involving an unauthorized appointment.
Pervaiz approaches court for bail: After hearing Pervaiz’s bail application, Khalid Mahmood Bhatti, the anti-corruption court judge in Lahore, issued a summons to ACE officials. The judge also scheduled a follow-up hearing on the release request for June 7.
A district court in Lahore placed the PTI leader under judicial remand. The court denied the ACE’s request for the former chief minister to be physically remanded in its anticipated ruling.
On Saturday, Pervaiz was cleared of charges in two corruption trials by a Gujranwala court. However, despite the lack of evidence, he was subsequently detained again.
“Anti-Corruption Establishment in Lahore arrested Pervaiz Elahi in illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly case,” the official added. “In the Punjab Assembly, Pervaiz Elahi made 12 unlawful appointments for Grade 17.”
The spokesperson claimed that unsuccessful candidates were recruited by falsifying their records for the Punjab Assembly. The representative said that fake testing services were used to commit fraud during hiring.
However, “False recruitments in the Punjab Assembly were proven in an anti-corruption investigation. There is unequivocal proof of recruitment corruption,” it was said
