The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab arrested Pervaiz Elahi, the president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Saturday, a day after the ATC granted him bail in the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) attack case.
Pervaiz Elahi re-arrested in graft case: “The ACE team re-arrested Pervaiz Elahi, the former chief minister of Punjab, shortly after his release from Adiala prison.”
“The ACE team temporarily remanded Elahi in front of the courthouse.” After hearing the case, duty judge Shahrukh Arjumand approved Elahi’s one-day transit remand.
Officials stated that they would transport Pervaiz Elahi to the ACE headquarters in Lahore by nightfall.
In a case involving a judicial complex attack, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday granted bail to Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, a former chief minister of Punjab.
ATC judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain granted bail to the former chief minister Pervaiz Elahi when the PTI president appeared before his court, requiring a Rs 20,000 surety bond.
“On September 1, the police took the PTI leader into custody a few hours after his release from NAB detention, following the Lahore High Court’s earlier prevention of his arrest.”
Elahi’s imprisonment and multiple arrests since the May 9 disturbances are noteworthy.
