Ali Mohammad Khan, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was taken into custody after the incident on May 9 and was ordered to be released by the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday.
PHC orders release Ali Mohammad: Khan’s request for bail was heard by a two-judge panel consisting of Justice Iijaz Anwar and Justice Syed Mohammad Attique Shah.
Justice Anwar made a comment during the hearing. He stated that one who gives a news conference is released, while the person who doesn’t gets arrested once more.
He questioned, “How could such serious claims get disproved with merely a press conference.
The court then announced the judgement and ordered the authorities to free the former minister. Additionally, it ordered Khan to provide bonds in the amount of Rs. 100,000 as guarantee for his bail.
Additionally, the court accepted the pleas of a few other individuals detained in accordance with Section 3 of the MPO.
The former state minister was first detained in Islamabad on May 11 as part of a crackdown on PTI leaders following violent protests brought on by the detention of the party chairman. Before being hauled into jail by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, he had been released and detained numerous times.
On May 30, the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench issued an order for Khan’s release. However, KP police afterwards re-arrested Khan outside the Adiala Jail for violating the same statute.
