Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for France on Wednesday in order to attend the New Global Financing Pact Summit in Paris.

PM Shehbaz leaves for France: Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, is visiting France for two days on the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron of France.

France is hosting the Paris Summit, which is slated for June 22–23, 2023, with the aim of laying the groundwork for a new global funding architecture outside of the Bretton Woods system to address issues including climate change, the biodiversity catastrophe, and development challenges.

Shehbaz Sharif, the prime leader of one of the biggest developing nations most impacted by climate change, will speak at the summit as a key G-77 participant.

He will discuss Pakistan’s viewpoint and recommendations for reforming International Financial Institutions, climate funding, green infrastructure, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and debt relief.

On the sidelines of the Summit, PM Shehbaz Sharif will also have one-on-one conversations with other international leaders.

Paris meeting

The Summit offers the leaders a chance to talk about the details of a new global architecture that can handle the difficulties of financing the agenda for sustainable development, the environment, the transition to clean energy, and climate change.

Additionally, The Summit aims to define the guiding principles and actionable steps necessary for a thorough reform of the international financial system and pave the way for a more equitable and balanced partnership between the North and the South in the lead-up to other significant international events and conferences over the course of the next two years.

However, Pakistan, one of the largest developing nations most impacted by climate change and a key participant in the global conversation, the G-77, and China, will contribute to the discussion at the summit.
