PM Shehbaz optimistic about securing IMF deal this month

The government of Pakistan has accepted and put into effect all of the conditions set forth by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, who voiced optimism about Pakistan’s chances of reaching an agreement with the IMF this month on Sunday.

PM Shehbaz optimistic about securing IMF deal: The prime minister said this while speaking at a sports complex’s inauguration in Lahore.

PM Shehbaz regretted that the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration broke its deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which caused a “very serious economic situation.”

The prime minister remembered his phone discussion with the MD of the international lender and declared his certainty that they would approve the IMF’s 9th review “sooner or later” due to their compliance with all the requirements.

The prime minister did, however, promise to inform the country if the deal is delayed any more for “any reason.”

Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, blamed PTI for the ‘present economic issues’ and claimed that the previous leaders ‘deliberately’ failed to purchase petrol, which was cheaper at the time of the Covid-19 outbreak.

He continued, “The previous rulers failed to offer relief to the people of Pakistan,” adding that this was their “only focus.” “They [PTI rulers] could avert the current economic crises by taking some relief measures instead of putting the opposition behind bars,” he continued.

PM Shehbaz Sharif mentioned the May 9 incidents, where military facilities, including Corps Commander House Lahore, came under attack, and asserted that these incidents “constituted nothing less than enmity against the country.”
