summary for NA dissolution sent President tomorrow: The tenure of the National Assembly expires on August 12. However, if it were to happen, the current administration’s tenure would finish too soon.

A few days after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif publicly declared the dissolution of the National Assembly on August 9 and the subsequent elections within 90 days of the assembly’s term ending, he confirmed the details.

The prime minister added, while speaking at a ceremony today in Islamabad, “After our [government’s] term ends tomorrow, I will write and send [the advice] to the president to dissolve the assembly and then an interim government will take over.”

Both the administration and the opposition must reach an agreement on the name of the caretaker prime minister before the assembly’s dissolution.

Raja Riaz, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, stated today that he had not yet discussed the choices of the temporary prime minister with the premier.

The consultation will take place at the “right time,” he added, adding that he hoped to discuss these issues in a meeting tomorrow.

But Riaz claimed to have concluded consultations with his allies and stated that they had “almost 90% finalized” the three candidates for interim prime minister.

Upon the completion of the parliament’s designated period, the Constitution mandates the summoning of elections within 60 days. However, in the event of an early dissolution of the assembly, elections must take place within 90 days.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah believes that the upcoming general elections, scheduled for October or November this year, could potentially face a delay, despite explicit constitutional rules, due to “constitutional requirements.”

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah declared on Tuesday morning’s episode of Geo News’ “Geo Pakistan” that there would be no general elections in 2023.

The minister responded, “It is an utterly straightforward answer — no, 2023 is not election year.”

Emphasizing that, as per the Constitution, the findings of the 2017 census could be utilized “provisionally for a single time” before facing rejection.

Sanaullah emphasized that the Constitution mandated the execution of the delimitation process upon notification of a census. He further stated that the caretaker government would conduct the delimitation process to fulfill this constitutional requirement.
