The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) suffered a significant blow in the Sindh local body elections when its candidate for the union council seat in Karachi lost to the PPP candidate in the elections held on Sunday. PPP leads with winning 93 seats in Karachi elections.

According to the preliminary results announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday. After receiving 2,696 votes, Najmi Alam of the PPP won the UC election from Khurram Sher Zaman, the president of the PTI’s Karachi branch and a member of the Sindh Assembly.

The Pakistan Peoples Party is currently in the lead with 51 seats, followed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with 21 seats, and the Jamat-e-Islami (JI) with 19 seats, according to the results of 94 seats out of 253 seats in the Karachi division.

The 140 unfilled seats’ outcomes are still awaited.

PPP leader and provincial minister Saeed Ghani responded to the LB poll results by claiming that PPP had emerged as the polls’ largest party in the city.

Additionally, he congratulated Jamaat-e-Islami on the election outcomes and stated that his party was willing to cooperate with everyone except PTI.

However In response to complaints from political parties about the delay in releasing local body election results, the ECP stated on Monday that it is a “complicated matter that takes time” and provided assurance that the they have compiled results and sent to the returning officers’ (RO) office.

Ijaz Anwar Chauhan, the provincial election commissioner for Sindh, explained the reason for the delay in results to the media.

“This is a challenging procedure, and preparing the outcomes of one union council takes time.”

However Each UC has four wards and, on average, 20 polling places, according to Chauhan. He continued by saying that the results of the entire UC would be insufficient if even one polling place’s results were unavailable.
