President Dr. Arif Alvi visited the Palestine Embassy in Islamabad as the country flew tonnes of humanitarian aid for the residents of Gaza, who are currently under Israeli siege.
President visits Palestinian embassy: Alvi met with Palestinian Ambassador Ahmed Jawad Rabei, according to a statement released by the president, and on behalf of the Pakistani government and people, he emphasised Pakistan’s sympathy with the Palestinian people.
“The United Nations should debate the atrocities that happened in Palestine, and the UNSC should pass a resolution to stop Israeli atrocities,” Alvi stated.
Israel and Pakistan do not maintain diplomatic ties.
Alvi forewarned that such heinous acts raised the likelihood that hatred would spark new wars and urged the OIC to speak out loudly in favour of Palestine.
“On behalf of the people of Pakistan, we denounce the atrocities occurring in Gaza, Israel’s excessive response, and the decades-long practise of apartheid. We deplore the killing and brutality towards individuals. In actuality, more than 500 people died when the hospital in Gaza was bombed. All of this only breeds more resentment, the president claimed.
Islamabad said earlier on Thursday that it would use Egypt to transport the first shipment of aid to the besieged Gaza Strip.
“Pakistan Sends Humanitarian Aid to Gaza and Strongly Condemns Israeli Aggression”
In the meantime, a chartered aircraft leaving Islamabad for Egypt carried 100 tonnes of crucial medical supplies, tents, and blankets. At a weekly news briefing in Islamabad, spokesperson for the foreign ministry Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that these products would be shipped from Egypt to Gaza.
“Pakistan is still concerned about what is happening to our Palestinian family members in Gaza. She said that Tel Aviv’s actions “violate international humanitarian and human rights law” and expressed her country’s “strong condemnation” of Israeli aggression and the closure of Gaza. In particular, she denounced the most recent strike on a Gaza hospital.
Islamabad has referred to Israel’s “deliberate” attacks on civilian targets as “war crimes and crimes against humanity.” The country has urged an immediate end to hostilities, the lifting of the closure on Gaza, and the opening of humanitarian corridors to allow unrestricted aid deliveries.
Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, a multi-pronged surprise onslaught that comprised a barrage of missile launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea, and air, on October 7. Since then, Gaza has been under Israeli bombing and embargo. It claimed that the invasion was in response to Israeli settlers’ increasing aggression and storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Israeli military initiated Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip after that.
Gaza is going through a terrible humanitarian catastrophe with no electricity, running out of water, food, fuel, and medical supplies.
Further, Antonio Guterres, secretary-general of the UN, has demanded a “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” to lessen the “epic human suffering.”
Israeli bombardment on Gaza have claimed the lives of at least 3,785 Palestinians, compared to more than 1,400 Israeli citizens.
