PSL 8 match officials and commentators: The eight-season, 34-game Pakistan Super League (PSL) would have a panel of 15 pundits and two presenters, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
While Marina Iqbal and Tariq Saeed will provide commentary in Urdu, Alan Wilkins, Bazid Khan, Danny Morrison, Daren Ganga, Dominic Cork, Mark Butcher, Nick Knight, Sana Mir, Sikandar Bakht, Simon Doull, Urooj Mumtaz, Vernon Philander, and Waqar Younis will provide commentary in English. The presenters will also include Erin Holland and Zainab Abbas.
Four locations will host the PSL 8 from February 13 to March 19. From February 13 to February 26, matches for the Multan and Karachi legs will be played. From February 27 to March 19, 20 matches will be played in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
Aleem Dar, Richard Illingworth, and Michael Gough were also named as PSL 8 match officials, along with Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob, Rashid Riaz, Faisal Khan Afridi, Martin Saggers, Ruchira Palliyaguruge, Alex Wharf, and Shozab Raza. Muhammad Asif, Nasir Hussain, and Tariq Rasheed, who will serve as the fourth umpire, will assist them.
For the seventh consecutive year, Roshan Mahanama, a former match referee on the ICC’s elite panel, will head a team of five match referees that also includes Ali Naqvi, Iftikhar Ahmed, Javed Malik, and Muhammad Anees.
“Additionally, Palliyaguruge of Sri Lanka, as well as Wharf who has played 13 ODIs and Saggers who has appeared in three Tests for England, will all make their PSL debuts.” The three are participants in the ICC’s global umpire panel.
Gough will make his fourth PSL appearance, while Illingworth will make his sixth appearance in the competition.
PSL 8 Schedule and Key Teams to Watch
The PSL 8 opening ceremony is set to occur in Multan on February 13th. The first match of the tournament will be between the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars and the 2021 champions, Multan Sultans. The closing ceremony and final will take place on March 19th in Lahore. Lahore will also host the play-offs.
Lahore Qalandars aim to make history by becoming the first team to win back-to-back championships. Islamabad United aims to make history by winning the trophy for the third time.
However, Eleven games will be played in Rawalpindi, nine games each in Karachi and Lahore, and five games in Multan.
