The District and Sessions Court sentenced the PTI chairman to three years in prison in the Toshakhana criminal case.

PTI Chairman awarded three-year sentence: In its ruling, the court stated that the accused had been found guilty of engaging in corrupt behaviour and sentenced the PTI chairman to three years in prison.

The PTI head who was found guilty also received a Rs. 1 lakh fine from the court.

The former prime minister was also declared unable to hold public office for a period of five years by the court.

Before asking for time, junior attorney PTI Khalid Yousuf informed the court that senior attorney Khawaja Haris was occupied in the NAB court. Where is the defendant, demanded Judge Humayun Dilawal. Khalid Yousuf stated that Khawaja Haris would tell the court of the accused.

The judge inquired, “You said Khawaja Haris has been busy in the NAB court, what he is doing.” “He is pleading on bail petitions,” the junior attorney added.

The judge said, “The court had summoned at 8:30am, and it is now 10:30.”

The hearing was postponed till noon by the court.

The judge stated, “The lead counsel should ensure his presence by 12:00, failing which the court will make its decision.”

Amjad Pervaiz and Saad Hassan, attorneys for the election commission, appeared in ADJ Humayun Dilawar’s court.

Due to the absence of the Chairman PTI’s attorneys, the court had earlier postponed the hearing to 10:30AM.

The Toshakhana case against the PTI chairman was upheld by a session court, but the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday overturned that decision.

The lower court was mandated to rehear the case by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.

The court also denied the PTI chairman’s request to have the case transferred to a different court. It gave notice that the appeal to reinstate the right to a defence will be heard the following week.

The trial court had already ruled that the PTI chief’s ECP reference was maintainable. The judgement was then contested in the IHC.

A walk-through gate and barbed wires were installed outside Judge Humayun Dilawar’s courtroom as part of the strict security measures.

No extraneous individual was permitted admission into the judicial complex. Only the authorized solicitors and news reporters were permitted entry into the courtroom.
