PTI demands President Dr Arif Alvi to announce election date

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) core committee passed a resolution in a meeting demanding that President Dr. Arif Alvi announce the election date without further delay.

PTI demands Alvi announce election date: The PTI core committee members claimed that due to the ‘unconstitutional move’ of April 2022, the nation is currently experiencing constitutional, political, democratic, administrative, and economic issues.

The committee claimed that although the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assemblies had been dissolved on January 14 and January 18, respectively, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government had violated the Supreme Court’s April 4 order and failed to carry out its constitutional duty to organise elections within 90 days.

To end the crisis, the political party called for taking immediate action to set up a democratic administration.

According to the PTI core committee, Article 48 requires the president to set the election date within 90 days and urges him to uphold his constitutional obligation.

The president would be in violation of democratic and constitutional rights, according to the core committee, if he neglected to announce an election date.

The caretaker prime minister (PM), Anwaarul Haq Kakar, suggested yesterday that the nation’s general elections could take place before the following year’s February.

PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan was the appropriate place to decide on this matter in an interview with a private news station.

The prime minister emphasized that the ECP was responsible for making a judgment in this matter, and the caretaker government would fulfill its constitutional duty by providing the ECP with any assistance necessary to conduct the elections.

In response to a query, the prime minister stated that the Supreme Court, as the highest court, would require the interim administration to follow the letter and spirit of any ruling it issued regarding the elections.
