Pervez Khattak, a senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member, resigned as the head of the party’s chapter in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Pervez Khattak resigns party positions: The PTI stalwart said it was challenging for him to continue functioning as the party’s KP chapter president in light of the ongoing political turmoil while speaking at a press conference in Islamabad.
After consulting with his friends and party associates, Khattak said he would announce the next move.
The PTI leader continued by stating that he had given his decision to leave his party’s leadership great thought.
Additionally, he stated that watching “propaganda” on television was “not right” and that he had made his choice only after giving it some thought.
In a tweet, before Khattak made his announcement, Omar Ayub, the general secretary of the PTI, stated that they had arrested him and another party official, Asad Qaiser.
The PTI negotiation committee has informed us that they have arrested senior PTI members Pervez Khattak and Asad Qaiser. The committee tweeted that they lured them into a meeting under pretenses to discuss negotiations.
The two leaders were “called for a meeting by the intelligence agencies and then illegally detained in a safe house […] to quit PTI for their release,” the PTI chairman claimed, making the same allegation.
