Unknown persons allegedly “picked up” Farrukh Habib, the party’s leader and a former minister, from Gwadar, as reported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday.
Farrukh Habib ‘picked up’ from Gwadar: A day after PTI named Farrukh as its new spokesperson, the development happened.
“On X, formerly Twitter, the party reported that individuals, one of whom was in a police uniform, while the others were in plain clothing, detained the former federal minister, along with his brother and four other associates.”
PTI stated, “We hope that everyone taken into custody will be presented in court in accordance with the law.”
The party’s legal counsel has also been inform that court action is imminent, it said.
After the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Imran Khan on May 9, numerous party leaders were detain due to PTI rallies over that detention, including attacks on defense facilities, structures, and memorials.
The party stated in another post on X that Farrukh was detain due to his “unwavering loyalty to chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and his refusal to compromise on the interests of our nation.”
In the previous PTI-led administration, Farrukh Habib, a resident of District Faisalabad, served as the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
Additionally, he served on the Science and Technology, Information and Broadcasting, and Defence Production Standing Committees.
According to the website of the information ministry, Farrukh founded the Insaf Student Federation and has been a pioneering member and representative of the PTI youth since 2007.
He served as PTI’s central deputy general secretary, central deputy secretary of information, and a member of the organization’s central executive committee. Additionally, he has held the position of Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Railways.
In the 2018 General Elections, Farrukh defeated former Water and Power Minister Abid Sher Ali and won the NA-108 seat, becoming an MNA.
