A special court granted provisional bail to Asad Umar, a former secretary-general of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in a cypher case on Tuesday. The court is hearing cases under the Official Secrets Act.

Asad Umar secures interim bail: Earlier that day, an application for interim release in the case was submitt by Umar, who denied reports of his arrest in connection with the cypher case.

Upon receiving the opening remarks from Asad Umar’s attorney, Babar Awan, Judge Abu Al-Hasnat Zulqarnain proceeded with the case, granting the former minister provisional bail until August 29.

Asad Umar denied reports of his detention during his appearance before the special court, adding that he had twice joined the inquiry and that the reports of his incarceration were untrue.

“Earlier, authorities had detained Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister and vice chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), at his residence in Islamabad.”

In connection with the Cypher case, authorities detained Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the vice chairman of the PTI, and transported him to the FIA’s main office.

It is important to note that Azam Khan, a former principal secretary to the PTI chairman and former prime minister, made shocking claims and asserted that the former PM used US cypher for his ‘political benefits’ and to avert a motion of no-confidence against him.
