“Kamran Bangash, a prominent member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), arrested on Friday.”
Kamran Bangash arrested: Police apprehended Bangash near his apartment, which is adjacent to the road toll plaza in Peshawar, shortly after they learned of his movements. Female police officers were present during the operation.
“The police detained Bangash in connection with allegations filed at the Kabli police station regarding violent acts that occurred after the arrest of Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, on May 9.”
The development came days after a two-member Supreme Court bench stayed a PHC judgement that had given PTI leaders blanket bail.
In a hearing on an appeal against the PHC judgement, Justices Sardar Tariq Masood and Mussarat Hilali objected to the high court’s broad relief and delayed the Aug. 4, 2023, order.
The PHC had previously prohibited the police and prosecution department from detaining PTI leaders Asad Qaiser, Rangaiz Ahmed, Aqibullah, and Attaullah.
