Russia and Africa to promote a ‘multipolar order’: Putin

President Vladimir Putin of Russia announced that Russia and the African leaders present at the Saint Petersburg summit had agreed upon a multipolar world order and the battle against neo-colonialism.

Russia and Africa to promote a multipolar order: Putin praised the “commitment of all our states to the formation of a just and democratic multipolar world order” in statement to the media made after the summit.

The Russian president also made reference to the “joint determination to counter neo-colonialism, the practise of applying illegitimate sanctions, and attempts to undermine traditional moral values.”

Russia viewed the two-day summit as a test of Africa’s support for country, which it continues to enjoy despite the isolation brought on by its military operation in Ukraine.

The participants, according to Putin, “demonstrated their independence and real interest in developing cooperation with our country.”

49 delegations from different nations, including 17 heads of state, confirmed their attendance.

In a united statement, signatories urged “the establishment of a more just, balanced, and stable multipolar world order, firmly opposing all types of international confrontation in African continent.”

The statement said that Russia will aid African nations in their efforts to “ensure compensation for colonial policies, including the restitution of cultural property displaced in the process of colonial plundering.”

Around ten days had passed since Russia withdrew from agreement that had guaranteed Ukrainian grain exports when the meeting took place.

After the suspension of the pact, which had helped to stabilize food prices globally and prevent shortages, fears of a worldwide food catastrophe intensified.

Putin promised that his nation would “continue to supply African friends with grain crops, both on a contractual basis and free of charge.”

At a dinner on Friday, he said, Ukraine would be discussed with a few African nations.

However, Putin added that the leaders had decided to strengthen trade, energy, and aid cooperation, among other things, by “consistently switching to national currencies for commercial transactions.”
