Russian air defences shot down two drones near the Ukrainian border as well as a drone that was heading towards Moscow.
Russia destroys drones near Moscow: Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of the city, posted on Telegram that air defences in the Lyubertsy neighbourhood southeast of the capital “destroyed a drone flying towards Moscow.” He did not identify the assailant.
Initial reports state that there were no injuries or property damage. There are emergency personnel on the site.
In addition, the Russian defence ministry said that Kyiv was responsible for the attempted strike when air defences shot down a drone over the Lyubertsy neighbourhood around 4:30 am (0130 GMT).
The aviation service confirmed the earlier reports from the state-run TASS news agency, indicating that they had suspended plane activity at Moscow’s Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports.
On Telegram, the Russian army ministry announced that air defenses shot down two additional drones over the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine.
It didn’t mention whether there had been injuries or damage.
After Kiev promised earlier this summer to “return” the conflict to Russia, a flurry of drone attacks against the city and other Russian regions have been launched in recent days.
