Several hundred Ukrainian soldiers attacked the Russian army, according to Moscow, on Wednesday. The town of Orikhiv is located in the south and is one of the regions where Kyiv has been conducting its counteroffensive.
Russia repelled Ukraine attack in south: After amassing Western weapons and bolstering its offensive capabilities, Kyiv last month launched a hotly anticipated counteroffensive against Russian soldiers.
According to a statement from the Russian defence ministry, “on the morning of July 26, the enemy resumed intensive offensive operations” close to Orikhiv.
“The forces of three battalions, reinforced by tanks, conducted a massive attack,” stated Ukraine.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attacks were all repulsed. According to the ministry, they filled positions.
After announcing an advance of up to two kilometres (1.2 miles) on Tuesday, the Russian military added that it had made movement in the direction of Lyman, in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine.
However, “According to the government’s statement, there was a conflict in close proximity to the Sergiivka settlement. This area had been previously claimed by Moscow to be under their control amid the ongoing situation. The government’s report sheds light on the events that unfolded during the course of the dispute.”
