In a town in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine on Thursday, a Russian attack killed at least 49 people, including a six-year-old kid, according to Ukrainian officials.
Russian attack in northeast Ukraine: The governor of the Kharkiv area, Oleh Synehubov, reported that unidentified attackers targeted a cafe and a business in the village of Hroza in the Kupyansk district of Kharkiv at around 13:15 (10:15 GMT) while numerous civilians were present.
On the Telegram message platform, Synehubov stated that the rescuers were still at the scene.
Authorities shared video of rescuers scaling through burning rubble. Along with mangled metal and concrete slabs, bodies were lying there.
It was not immediately clear whether Russian soldiers, who invaded Ukraine 19 months ago, had fired a missile or shelled the settlement.
While in Spain for a summit with the European leaders, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy declared, “We must stop the Russian terror.”
He wrote on the Telegram messaging app, “Now we are talking with the European leaders, in particular, about strengthening our air defence, about strengthening our soldiers, about giving our country protection from terror.”
