SC disposes NAB’s application: The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) request to cancel the bail granted to PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz in the Shamim Sugar Mills case.

The anti-graft watchdog withdrew its petition, and a two-member bench presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandial heard the matter and decided the appeal.

The prosecutor from the anti-graft watchdog informed the court that NAB is withdrawing its plea due to recent amendments to the NAB law.

The case

Additionally, Authorities have charged the Sharif family with using Chaudhry Sugar Mills for the purposes of share transfers and money laundering.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) claims that despite the mill’s existence prior to obtaining the loan, the family borrowed $15 million under the pretense of establishing it.

The NAB reported that in 2008, they transferred shares worth over Rs7 million to PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz Sharif through the mill’s shares, and later in 2010, they transferred those shares to Yousaf Abbas Sharif.
