NAB amendments case challenged: On September 15, the Pakistan Supreme Court released its reserved decision on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman’s appeal and overturned changes made to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) rules.

One of the petitioners called Abdul Jabbar, through his attorney Farooq H. Naek, filed the review petition at the SC.

“In his plea, the applicant contended that the Apex court had rendered a decision without consulting them and observed that the ruling against the NAB changes lacked clarity on how fundamental human rights were violate.”

The applicant has requested that the Supreme Court reconsider its ruling in the NAB Amendments case from September 15.

The top court granted Imran Khan’s plea to challenge changes made to the nation’s accountability rules under the previous Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led administration by a vote of 2-1 in favour of the petition. Khan is the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The top court also revived corruption proceedings against public officials that had been dropped after the NAB law changes.

After the verdict, the accountability courts reopened the references against some of the nation’s top political figures.
