ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced on Saturday that Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar has been chosen as Pakistan’s acting prime minister.
Anwar-ul-Haq becomes Caretaker PM: According to the statement, President Alvi has received counsel regarding Kakar’s appointment as interim prime minister from PM Shehbaz and Riaz.
The prime minister praised the opposition leader for his help in choosing the nominee for the interim prime minister.
The president swiftly gave his blessing to the summary in accordance with Article 224 A of the Constitution.
While speaking to the media earlier, the opposition leader announced the same development in front of the Prime Minister’s House.
“After their second round of discussions, Raja Riaz and PM Shehbaz Sharif made the choice. Raja stated, ‘We have decided that the interim prime minister will come from a smaller province,’ and he added that they had chosen Anwarul Haq Kakar as the caretaker PM.”
Following the premature dissolution of the National Assembly (NA) on August 9, PM Shehbaz and opposition leader Raja Riaz initiated consultations to select a candidate for the caretaker premiership.

Earlier, President Dr. Arif Alvi requested that Raja Riaz and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif put up names for the caretaker PM’s appointment by tomorrow (August 12).
In the letter, President Alvi stated that pursuant to Article 224A of the Constitution, PM Shehbaz and Raja Riaz had three days following the dissolution of the National Assembly to suggest a name for the appointment of a caretaker prime minister.
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, who is he?
“Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) member Senator Anwar ul Haq Kakar, born in Balochistan, has been appointe as Pakistan’s new interim prime minister.”
Kakar, a Balochistani politician who won a Senate election in 2018, has displayed significant activity.
He additionally served as the parliamentary leader for the Balochistan Awami Party in the Senate, an organization established in 2018.
Additionally, Anwarul Haq Kakar served as a member of the Business Advisory Committee, Finance and Revenue, Foreign Affairs, Science and Technology, and the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.
