Former Pakistan captain and renowned all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi met with Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of the PCB Management Committee, at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Shahid Afridi meets Zaka Ashraf: The former all-rounder is reportedly in the running for the top spot on the cricket board, which is why there is conjecture about their meeting.
Ashraf has come under fire from Afridi, who says he treats the board like a “club” and chastises him for saying needless and reckless things.
Not any [random] club, but the PCB, and you, Ashraf, are its chairman. The former skipper said, “You should handle many things, but you are calling media owners and complaining about people saying this and that about you on their respective channels.”
He continued, “You are making unnecessary remarks about Babar and other players during the World Cup,” which the Pakistani team is currently playing.
It is anticipated that today’s meeting, which was held in a constructive atmosphere, will lessen the stress.
In the course of the meeting, Ashraf praised Afridi for his commitment to the game and referred to him as a “great ambassador of the country” and a “hero of Pakistan.”
A PCB statement quoted Ashraf and stated, “We would love to have your experience for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.”
Afridi acknowledged the PCB chief’s work and services to Pakistan cricket, but he also indicated his desire to continue helping to develop the next generation of cricketers who will play for their nation.
The historic encounter takes place just one day after the former captain of Pakistan met with Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, to talk about cricket-related matters, including his potential future affiliation with the PCB.
Afridi and Kakar discussed the development of cricket players from the local level to the international stage, as well as the success of the Babar Azam-led team in the present World Cup 2023.
