Sheikh Rashid is arrested by the police

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, the leader of the Awami Muslim League (AML), was arrested early on Thursday morning on the Murree Highway.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was allegedly arrested on Murree Highway, according to the police. Rashid’s cousin Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, in contrast, claimed that the authorities had detained him from his home in Rawalpindi and not from the highway, refuting the police account.

Division of Rawalpindi Raja Inayat Ur Rehman, the leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), filed a case against Rashid at the Aabpara Police Station in Islamabad, stating that Asif Ali Zardari, a former president, was planning to assassinate the PTI leader.

The PPP co-chairman and his family were put in “permanent danger” by the AML chief, according to the PPP divisional president’s statement in the FIR.

Rashid’s accusations, according to the FIR, are intended to incite conflict between the PTI and the PPP and destabilise the peace in the nation. The AML commander allegedly claimed to have important information on a “conspiracy” to assassinate the PTI leader, the PPP leader said.

If so, the authorities should detain the two leaders in accordance with Sections 150 and 151 and foil the conspiracy, he continued, in order to stop discontent from spreading throughout the nation.

“FIR Update: New Sections Added, Rashid Detained with Seized Alcohol and Gun”

The FIR now includes three new sections: 505 (statements inciting public mischief), 153A (inciting hatred between various groups), and 120B (criminal association).

A bottle of alcohol and a gun that belonged to Rashid were also seized, according to the police, who also informed the media. The former interior minister was allegedly “drunk” when apprehended, according to police. He was first detained by Muree Police, who then turned him over to Islamabad Police, who then took him to Aabpara Police Station, where the charge was filed.

Rashid is also a party to another “illegal occupation” case since on January 30, the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) sealed off Lal Haveli, his home, and five nearby apartments. The Lahore High Court ruled that the property must be shut down on the same day.

After receiving medical attention at the Polyclinic, the former minister was moved to the Secretariat’s police station.

In response, the former prime minister denounced Sheikh Rashid’s detention and charged Moshin Naqvi, the head of Punjab’s caretaker administration, with partiality.
