South Korea’s Yoon departs for Saudi Arabia and Qatar

Yoon Suk Yeol, the president of South Korea, departed for Saudi Arabia and Qatar on Saturday to discuss business collaboration as well as security situations in light of the Middle East crisis, according to his office.

Yoon departs for Saudi and Qatar: Yoon will meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Sunday during what will be the first state visit by a South Korean leader. Further, Yoon will then go to Qatar on October 24–25 for a summit and to attend a business roundtable.

A little over a year has passed since the Saudi crown prince visited South Korea to explore collaboration in the fields of energy, defence, and infrastructure building. During that trip, he signed investment agreements totaling $30 billion with Korean companies.

According to Yoon’s office, business leaders travelling with the president include Jay Y. Lee, executive chairman of Samsung Electronics, E.S. Chung, executive chairman of the Hyundai Motor Group, and the heads of the Hanwha, GS, and HD Hyundai conglomerates.
